Third-party events are a great way to engage your potential supporters including family, friends, and co-workers who will then hopefully contribute to your goal!

There are the simple events – a bake sale, a shoe campaign, garage sale. Then there are the larger events where you can work with a restaurant or a store. Many companies have programs dedicated to helping out with third-party ‘Special Events’. You can approach the business and ask if they do third-party events, what they offer if they do, and what your cause/reason for the event is. If you need help along the way, contact us!

Here is a great story of a successful Special Event in support of the #Walk4MD:

13007197_1005871766115777_6867559532900358397_nOn April 16, 2016, Alexander McCormack and his team walk team “Thee Golden Spirits” were excited to host their first annual “Dining for Duchenne’s” raising money for awareness, research and development for muscular dystrophy.  Being in the small British Columbian community of Pemberton (population 2,400), the team took the bold step, not knowing if many people would come out. Dining for Duchenne’s turned out to be a huge success, and sold out.

The event hosted over 100 diners and many more asking for the hottest ticket in town.  Alexander is 27 years old and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  Alexander and the McCormack family did an excellent job securing a venue and providing a chef inspired meal and kept everyone entertained with the competitive silent auction, 50/50 draw and private donations.  The event exceeded the McCormick family’s expectations and raised over $13,700 with more fundraising dollars coming in.

The Whistler Fire Department as well as friends and family from all over the lower mainland attended to show their support.  Alexander made a heart felt thank you to all who attended.  Alexander, a strong supporter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada is instrumental in getting his walk team ready for the June 4th Burnaby walk at Central Park.

Alexander and the McCormick family are already preparing for the 2017 Dining for Duchenne’s.
