Westphal Cole Harbour Fire Fighters Association Ladder Sit
In June 1990, the Westphal Cole Harbour Fire Fighters Association (WCHFFA) held the first Don Crook Memorial Ladder-a-thon to support Muscular Dystrophy Canada. 25 successful years later, the tradition continues: on June 20-22, 2014, a brave Fire Fighter, Brendan Miller, sat atop the ladder for 50 hours to raise funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. While Brenden sat in the air, other members and volunteers of the WCHFFA were collecting donations from the public through their boot tolls and BBQ sales, raising $25,000.
The WCHFFA has been supporting Muscular Dystrophy Canada since 1983, and has raised over $725,000 to date, the most of any single fire department or association in Atlantic Canada.
Their support is so important for Muscular Dystrophy Canada to be able to help families challenged by neuromuscular disorders.
