Catherine Sherrard - Chief Executive Officer

Catherine Sherrard joined Muscular Dystrophy Canada in 2007, bringing 20 years of nonprofit sector experience to the organization. She began her fundraising career in 1987 and since that time has held leadership positions with four other organizations:  National Group Director of Marketing and Development for the Canadian Cancer Society, Director of Fundraising for the Ontario Liberal Party, Director of Fundraising for the Ontario March of Dimes, and Executive Director of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation.

Throughout her career, Ms. Sherrard has been at the helm of groundbreaking fundraising campaigns, and she has been an active community volunteer. She was on the Toronto Hydro Commission from 1987-1999, and was Chair of the Commission for three years – the first woman to hold that position since the inception of the utility in 1911. Until April of 2005, she chaired the Not-for-Profit Council, and was a Board member of the Canadian Marketing Association.

Ms. Sherrard is currently on the Board of Directors for the Ontario March of Dimes. She is also a member of the Greater Toronto Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and of Imagine Canada, formerly the Canadian Centre of Philanthropy.
