Barrie Dragon Boat Festival

The Barrie Dragon Boat Festival has become a staple in the City of Barrie’s summer line-up, hosted by the Barrie Public Library. Sixty teams from all different backgrounds raise funds for various local charities and not-for profit organizations.

This year will be the 7th consecutive year the Simcoe Chapter will be participating in the event and we want to make it a big one! We have an ambitious fundraising goal of $40,000 and we need your help to achieve it! Over the past 6 years, the Barrie and Simcoe community has helped us raise over $210,000 to help enhance the lives of those affected by Muscular Dystrophy. Help us reach our 7th year combined goal of $250,000 to provide essential mobility equipment, education and advocacy initiatives and fund research to find a cure for those in over 80 people affected by neuromuscular disorders in our community.

The Muscle Movers Boat is comprised of approximately 25 volunteers, who dedicate their time to fundraising, training and participating in this fast growing athletic event. The Simcoe Region Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada is always looking for new additions to their Muscle Movers team.
