How We Are Organized
Our community chapters are the heart of Muscular Dystrophy Canada's Western Region, with hundreds of volunteers carrying out local fundraising efforts, advocacy campaigns, and support programs for those with neuromuscular disorders. We currently have 14 chapters across Western Canada, which are coordinated through our Regional and community offices:
Our volunteers provide guidance and leadership and are made up of people with neuromuscular disorders and their family members, Fire Fighters, scientists, business people, and physicians from across the region.
The Western Region is led by an Executive Director. Together with our staff and volunteers they work on Muscular Dystrophy's mission:
- to support the independence and full participation of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders
- to fund research to find a cure and improve the quality of life of people with neuromuscular disorders
- to assist our stakeholders to participate in the decisions that affect them
- to collaborate with others for social change.
