EDMONTON ROOFTOP CAMPOUT: 2017
Feb 21 – Feb 24 all-day
Support the Edmonton Fire Fighter Rooftop Campout to Raise Funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada!

Over time, persons with neuromuscular disorders may lose the ability to walk, speak, and ultimately breathe. So, while they continue to battle daily for their health, Edmonton Fire Fighters will battle Alberta’s unpredictable winter environment to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada through their 11th annual Rooftop Campout from February 21 – 24, 2017. The event is a joint initiative between Edmonton Fire Fighters Union Local 209 and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. Fire Fighters will spend the entire time on the roof of Fire Station #2, located at 10217 107th Street.

“When families affected by neuromuscular disorders come up to the roof to say thanks and show their support for what we are doing, and we get an opportunity to chat with them, we can’t help but want to do more. They are an inspiration to me, and all of the Fire Fighters taking part in these rooftop campouts,” says Edmonton Fire Fighter Courtney Polson. “Last year we raised over $110,000 with this event and this year we have set our goal at $135,000. I can’t say enough about the dedication our Fire Fighters show to this worthy cause.”

Chris Fedor, one of the campers, echoes Courtney’s comments saying, “Edmonton Fire Fighters are proud to assist Muscular Dystrophy Canada with their mission to enhance the lives of those affected with neuromuscular disorders and will be there when they achieve their vision of finding a cure for neuromuscular disorders in our lifetime.”

Spruce Grove Fire Fighter Rooftop Campout: 2017
Feb 21 – Feb 24 all-day

To show their support for people with neuromuscular disorders, Spruce Grove Fire Fighters are organizing their 6th annual Rooftop Campout to raise awareness and funds to help ‘make muscles move’. A Rooftop Campout is a fundraising event where local Fire Fighters camp on the roof of a building, enduring below freezing temperatures, inclement weather, and whatever else nature throws their way, and collect donations from the public to support Muscular Dystrophy Canada. The money raised by Spruce Grove Fire Fighters will improve the quality of life of people living with neuromuscular disorders by purchasing mobility equipment, providing support services, and funding research, which will one day lead to a cure.

The Kitimat Fire Rescue will be hosting their first annual Muscular Dystrophy Canada Rooftop Campout to raise money and awareness in support of those Canadians affected by a neuromuscular disorder.

On Thursday February 23rd, a group of Kitimat Firefighters will go up on their Fire hall roof and will not come down until Sunday, February 26! During these four days and three nights, the firefighters will make this their new home – taking shelter in tents and bracing what Mother Nature may have in store!

During this event, the fire fighters will be collecting donation from the community to purchase mobility equipment, provide support services and fund research to find a cure for Canadian affected by neuromuscular disorders.

Please stop by and #filltheboot and support your local fire fighters.

Good luck to all of the campers and a big thank you to the Kitimat Fire Rescue, their families, friends and the community.
