For the past 13 years, Fire Fighter Mario Martin, Chief of Logistics at the Longueuil Fire Department, has been in charge of organizing the Montreal Scott High Rise Challenge. This event, unique to Quebec, is a physical activity combined with fundraising carried out by Muscular Dystrophy Canada supporters.
On Friday, June 3, 2016, the 18th Scott High Rise Challenge took place at the Stock Exchange Tower in Montreal. Over 700 Fire Fighters, paramedics, police officers and members of the public climbed the 1,125 steps of this great 48-storey building!
Mario also organizes other fundraising activities: cycle tour, conferences, etc. These activities have provided tremendous opportunities to raise awareness about the organization. Thanks to Mario, Quebec Fire Fighters are more dedicated than ever to finding a cure for neuromuscular disorders.
As a Fire Fighter, using muscles is essential, which is why this cause is so close to Mario’s heart. He decided to use his muscles to climb the steps and give hope to thousands of people affected with neuromuscular disorders, but we think he’s using his most important muscle: his heart!
