Awards and Criteria

Chapter of the Year Award

Presented to the Muscular Dystrophy Canada Chapter that has demonstrated excellence during the past year in any, or all of the following areas:  fundraising, public awareness, services and/or volunteer engagement/development.

Corporate Partner of the Year Award

Presented to a business that has supported Muscular Dystrophy Canada during the past year through direct or indirect financial or human resource contributions.

Courage to Inspire Award

Presented to an individual, or group, that has had a long-term relationship with Muscular Dystrophy Canada through lifetime giving or the organization of a special event.

Dr. George Karpati Award

Presented to an exemplary neuromuscular clinician or researcher who has made a significant contribution to neuromuscular research, the advancement of care of people with neuromuscular disorders, or to Muscular Dystrophy Canada in the past year in the areas of public awareness, services and/or fundraising.

Fire Department of the Year Award

Presented to a Fire Department that has demonstrated overall excellence throughout the past year, in fundraising, public awareness, and/or services.

Fire Fighter of the Year Award

Presented to a Fire Fighter who has demonstrated overall excellence throughout the past year, in areas of public awareness, services, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment.

Fred Shaddick Community Spirit Award

Presented to a group or other community service organization that has had a relationship with Muscular Dystrophy Canada in planning and organizing a third party event during the past year. This award is given annually or periodically, based on nominations brought forward.

Mary Ann Wickham Award for Volunteer of the Year

Presented to a Muscular Dystrophy Canada volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution during the past year in fundraising, public awareness and/or services.

Media Partner of the Year

Presented to a media provider that has helped to raise the profile of the Muscular Dystrophy Canada brand and spread awareness of neuromuscular disorders.

Michel Louvain Award for Client of the Year

Presented to an individual with a neuromuscular disorder who has made an outstanding contribution to Muscular Dystrophy Canada in fundraising, public awareness and/or services.
