Annual Reports

Muscular Dystrophy Canada exists because donors like you continue to support our mission of providing hope to those affected by neuromuscular disorders through research, services, and equipment. We gratefully acknowledge your support and dedication to our cause – your gifts are very important.

In 1998 Muscular Dystrophy Canada adopted the Imagine Canada's Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code that directs the organization in its policies and activities, and our Annual Report directly reflects the reporting standards by the Code. Many of the fundraising staff of Muscular Dystrophy Canada are members of professional fundraising associations, such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners. These organizations also specify strict codes of behaviour for their members. Muscular Dystrophy Canada does not hire fundraising staff or fundraising consultants on a commission basis, or on a percentage of revenues-raised compensation basis: all fundraising staff are paid an annual salary or a contract fee.

We believe that by providing information, donors can make responsible and educated choices about their donations. By making information on Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s finances and activities available to our donors, the organization fulfils its commitment of accountability to its stakeholders. Donors have many ways of receiving information about Muscular Dystrophy Canada: our Annual Report is produced once per year, our client newsletter Connections often contains donor information, and is published twice a year, and complete audited financial statements are also available upon request.
