International Volunteer Day – Saluting Volunteers that help us fulfill our mission!
Muscular Dystrophy Canada solutes our volunteers right across the country, for their hard work, passion, dedication and enthusiasm, which allows us to fulfill our mission.
Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes! The types and numbers of roles are just as diverse as the disorders under our umbrella. Some Chapters focus on educating people who are impacted and their community, while others focus on developing a support network, while others are raising funds and yet others are advocating for change. Other volunteers work in our offices to support our administrative activity, while others work from home to provide support to those going through challenges in their life, and others provide expertise in strategic planning and governance. Fire Fighters raise funds and the profile of Muscular Dystrophy Canada on a daily basis.
Without the energy, commitment and drive demonstrated by people who volunteer with Muscular Dystrophy Canada, we would not be able to accomplish the great work that we do on a daily basis!
Here are just a few examples of what we accomplished together in 2008:
- Helped provide families with over 3 million dollars worth of equipment
- Educated over 5000 people at 100 events
- Made more than 18,000 phone calls to support people affected by neuromuscular disorders and their families
- Distributed over 2,500 information kits to clients and their loved ones
- Helped to fund over 4 million dollars in cutting edge neuromuscular research
Muscular Dystrophy Canada solutes volunteers for all they do to help us “Make Muscles Move”.
Thank you!
