On August 5, 2008 Keith Martin, and his four friends Mike McDonald and Pat Cuthbert from UBC and Jonathan Taves and Brian Sprague from McMaster University completed an incredible bike journey across Canada to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
A quote from Keith's blog reads, "The trip's been an emotional challenge. When I decided that I wanted to accomplish the feat, I put every ounce of what I had to give into the project. I'm driven to challenge myself, and I saw this as an exciting way to see our beautiful country while pushing my body and mind to achieve what relatively few people have. There were times when I wondered whether my body would be able to handle it, but it meant a lot to me to prove to myself that I could do it. Others have, so why couldn't I?"
Their target was to raise $150,000 to help make muscles move and they have now achieved this goal! If you would like to read Keith's blog or learn more about this ride, please click the Moving Muscles Ride bicyle.
Published as a resource for families touched by neuromuscular disorders, you can read about the inspiring odyssey of the Moving Muscles Ride in this commemorative, limited edition book.
