Ways to Give
Since 1954, Muscular Dystrophy Canada has been committed to improving the quality of life for the over 50,000 Canadians with neuromuscular disorders, and funding leading research for the discovery of therapies and cures for neuromuscular disorders.
We do not receive funding from the United Way or government funding, except from occasional small grants related to special projects. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by muscular dystrophy.
Please join us in the fight against muscular dystrophy by choosing from these giving options:
Make a gift in remembrance of a loved one who has passed away. A sympathy card can be sent to the family on your behalf.
Do you have a family member or friend who is celebrating a special occasion. Make a gift to honour their accomplishment. A card will be sent to the celebrant on your behalf.

Other ways to show your support:
Planning a gift could mean leaving a gift to Muscular Dystrophy Canada in a will, or making Muscular Dystrophy Canada a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. It could be giving a gift of art or real estate, a gift of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, or a gift to a specific fund named after yourself or someone you wish to honour.
Gifts that involve this type of planning often have other advantages, such as a greater tax benefit to you. They often allow you to give a larger or more meaningful gift than if you contribute funds readily at hand. For more information please download our Guide to Planned Giving.
Join the 1954 Society by making a gift to Muscular Dystrophy as part of your legacy.
Every worthwhile cause or organization needs strong leadership in order to survive. By making a Major Gift to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, you can be a leader who enhances the quality of life of people with neuromuscular disorders.
Muscular Dystrophy Canada, Chapter members, Firefighters and Volunteers host fundraising events throughout the year. You can show your support by sponsoring a participant or by becoming an event sponsor.
Muscular Dystrophy Canada has a fundraising goal of $1.4 million in Alberta in fiscal year 2012 and expects to spend 28 cents on the dollar to raise these funds.
