How We Are Organized
Our community chapters are the heart of Muscular Dystrophy Canada Ontario & nunavut Region, with hundreds of volunteers carrying out local fundraising efforts, advocacy campaigns, and support programs for those with neuromuscular disorders. We currently have 10 chapters across Ontario and Nunavut which are coordinated through our Regional and community offices:
Our volunteers provides guidance and leadership and are made up of people with neuromuscular disorders and their family members, Fire Fighters, scientists, business people, and physicians from across the region.
The Ontario & Nunavut Region is led by Catherine Sherrard, CEO, and acting Executive Director. Together, she works with our staff and volunteers in Muscular Dystrophy Canada's mission:
- to support the independence and full participation of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders
- to fund research to find a cure and improve the quality of life of people with neuromuscular disorders
- to assist our stakeholders to participate in the decisions that affect them
- to collaborate with others for social change.
