The 2011 Fire Fighter of the Year Award

The Fire Fighter of the Year Award is presented to a Fire Fighter that has demonstrated overall excellence throughout the past year, in areas of public awareness, services fundraising and volunteer recruitment.

This year’s Fire Fighter of the Year Award Recipient is Mike Kaye.

Mike has made a definitive impact on the relationship between Muscular Dystrophy Canada and Fire Fighters on a national level.  His efforts to expand the Muscular Dystrophy Canada brand across Canada as well as his outreach and liaison with fire service organizations continue to provide significant contributions.  Mike served as the NFFRC Chair for two years, where he spearheaded efforts to create a new three year strategic plan which provided outcomes thus far including an enhanced national marketing campaign and a new comprehensive fundraising kit.  Mike was instrumental in revitalizing Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s relationship with IAFF and expanding the network of Fire Fighters dedicated to realizing Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s mission across Canada.  Mike is always looking to the future imagining ideas for continued success and expansion of Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s reach across the nation.  His relationship building, project management and enthusiasm continues to have an extremely positive impact on the future of the partnership between Fire Fighters and Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Congratulations Mike!
