Barrie Fire Fighters – Still Organizing the Largest Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy Canada!
In June, Barrie Fire Fighters held their annual Boot Drive in support of people affected with muscular dystrophy. This weekend fundraiser continues to be the largest and most successful boot drive across Canada and has almost 100% participation from the Association’s members. Also assisting were 50 family members and friends, 5 Retirees, the Georgian College fire students as well as MP Patrick Brown and Councillors Mike Ramsey and John Brassard.
On September 9th, a cheque of $54,136.44 was presented to Muscular Dystrophy Canada from this amazing event. Regional Manager - Pamela Musgrave and Chair of the Board - Rick Mills were able to thank the Barrie Fire Fighters in person and let them know their efforts are making a huge difference in the lives of those affected. A plaque was presented to the Barrie Fire Fighters congratulating them on organizing the largest boot drive in Canada. Fire Fighter Charlie Gray was given an award named after Muscular Dystrophy Canada National Ambassador Danielle Campo, thanking him for all he does for those affected.
Barrie Fire Fighters have been supporting people affected with muscular dystrophy since 1970 and to date have raised $782,925. We would like to thank all of the past and present members, the local businesses and the residents of Barrie for your generous support.
