Hop for Muscular Dystrophy

Sure, it’s about wearing a pair of bunny ears and hopping, dancing, and colouring, but it’s not all fun and games – HOP for Muscular Dystrophy raises funds, while educating preschool and elementary school children about neuromuscular disorders.

It’s also an opportunity to promote compassionate, inclusive school communities, where people of all physical abilities are accepted for who they are.

When you HOP for Muscular Dystrophy, you are helping to raise much-needed funds that will go to support vital education programs and other essential services such as peer networking, support groups, educational newsletters, community educational forums and the Equipment Program.

How does HOP work?

At the HOP event, children can hop, dance, or move according to their own ability to music.  All materials such as the bunny ears, coloring books, stickers, thank you certificates, posters, lesson plan, DVD, and storybook are provided to the school or centre at no cost to support the program.  Children collect pledges from family and friends to make a difference in the lives of families affected by a neuromuscular disorder

How to get involved

  • If you are a parent and you just heard of the HOP, ask your children’s school, pre-school, or daycare to participate.
  • If you are a parent and your child’s school already participates in the HOP, lend your support by helping your child raise pledges from family and friends.
  • If you are a teacher or a school administrator and your school or centre is already participating, you could help us further by asking other schools or daycares in your area to participate in the Hop as well.  You could even make it more fun by having a friendly competition to see who could raise more pledges.
